Speaking of Jeeps, my wife and I were on vacation last week in Southern Florida and this is what we had as a rental vehicle.
It's the Jeep 4XE which is their plug-in hybrid version. All in all, I was pretty pleased with it. It definitely didn't have the acceleration of the Bronco and of course the steering wasn't even close but it was something that I could live with on a daily basis.
We only had a couple of times that we had the opportunity to plug it in to 100% charge because the resort we stayed at only had 1 charger that would work for the Jeep. They had another one but it was only for a Tesla. The charging station was free so any charge at all was free miles in our pocket. I believe the charge last around 25-30 miles with a majority of that was 50mph. That's not a lot of miles but would work great for me to commute back and forth to work on a daily basis. I could probably go an entire week on 1 charge.
Even when the battery was too low to go into full electric mode, it would still power the initial startup at a traffic light. The motor would stop but the electric would get you going at the light and then start the motor. It was all pretty seamless and worked well.
No, I would never sell my Bronco for one, but when a hybrid Bronco comes to market in the future, I will definitely consider making the switch.
